Before Monday: tell the City to fix the 5-year plan
Send an email to the Transportation and Public Works (TPW) Commission BY TOMORROW NOON
This Monday, April 20, the Transportation and Public Works (TPW) Commission will review a draft of the City’s 5-year plan for street investments.
Right now, that plan falls short.
It does not meaningfully reflect the City’s Vision Zero goal (ending traffic deaths by 2030)
It does not deliver a connected network of protected bike lanes
It relies heavily on uncertain grant funding
It proposes $0 in General Fund investment for street infrastructure
At the same time, the City has identified at least $200,000 for City Hall office renovations!
This is a question of priorities—and the Commission needs to hear from the community.
Take a few minutes to send an email before NOON on Monday (tomorrow)

Subject: Public Comment: 2027–2031 CIP
Dear TPW Commissioners,
I’m concerned that the draft 2027–2031 Capital Improvement Program does not prioritize street safety.
The City committed to Vision Zero by 2030, but this plan lacks a clear focus on the most dangerous streets and does not include a connected network of protected bike lanes.
It’s also concerning that no General Fund money is proposed for street safety, while other non-safety projects are being funded.
To move in the right direction, I urge you to recommend:
A $1.5 million annual investment in quick-build protected bike lanes
A commitment to complete a connected protected bike network by 2030
This matters to me because: [add 1–2 sentences]

Thank you for speaking up.
