Our next Pacific for People Advocacy Meeting is this coming Wednesday, August 13 at Abbot Square.
📅 Wednesday, August 13
🕠 5:45–6:45 PM
📍 Abbott Square on Cooper Street
We’ll be discussing our ongoing efforts to advocate for neighborhood community building, monthly bike advocacy rides, and a weekend pedestrian plaza in downtown Santa Cruz.
We’ll be towards the back. If you have trouble finding us, feel free to text or call Kevin at 831-227-1789.
We hope to see you there!
🌱 Neighborhoods Program
We’re rebuilding community—the kind that’s been chipped away by cars, binge streaming, and those dangerously addictive animal videos.
What’s happening:
We partnered with Santa Cruz Neighbors to advocate for microgrants and city support for neighborhood associations, which would make it easier for people to get to know their neighbors, get educated about local events, and host block parties, park cleanups, cultural events, and more.
Councilmember Gabriela Trigueiro is leading these efforts to create a Santa Cruz neighborhoods program that meets our city’s unique needs. We are impressed by her knowledge and passion for improving the quality of life for all residents.
Trigueiro wants to see input from residents via our survey!

🚲 Monthly Advocacy Bike Ride — Safer Roads Are Possible in Santa Cruz
📅 Saturday, August 23
🕒 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
📍 Start at the intersection of Cooper Street & Pacific Avenue, Downtown Santa Cruz
🚩 About 10 miles of riding at casual pace
Protected bike lanes are disappearing across the U.S. before they are given a chance—from Boise to San Mateo to Toronto. Does the same fate await the new bike lanes slated for Bay Street?
We can’t let that happen here. In Berkeley, a bike lane proposed on Hopkins Street ignited a "culture war," a recall effort against a council member, and a toxic atmosphere for city staff, who began to quit in droves. The City of Berkeley cancelled the project.
Protected bike lanes have been removed in San Mateo, Culvert City, Vista, San Francisco, and more. If we want safer streets, we're going to need to get more organized.
Join us for the next ride!
All ages and abilities welcome – see you there!
